Tell us about your first concert experience:
My very first concert at 6 years old was Purple Rain, dressed as Madonna from her 'Like a Virgin' Video and all I can remember is my mom covering my eyes the entire concert. I've got to catch up on all the footage I missed and you can never get enough old school Prince.
If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, need I say more :)
If you became President, what is the first action you would take?
Scale back on the military spending and focus more on in-house issues like education -- especially in the arts!
What social cause is closest to your heart?
Animal rights! They can't defend themselves against humans most of the time and in my personal life they've played a huge role as companions and a big source of love and they're worth the fight!
What does the right to vote mean to you?
A stake in our future, I am an avid believer in the community and think it is very important to be aware of the issues that are directly affecting us! Go out and vote for your local officials!
What bands or artists did you listen to when you were in high school? And which bands or artists influenced your style the most?
I was into everything from grunge to hip-hop... I loved Hole and Nirvana to Wu-Tang and Tribe. My style has always been really eclectic and versatile. I like to keep it fresh and ever-changing!
What activity or group were you involved with in high school that might surprise people today?
I danced every day from noon until 7pm every night. Most people don't know my training in dance, it was a huge part of my discipline in school.
What's the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in high school? (could be personal or academic)
Changing High Schools in 10th grade was a huge challenge. The High Schools were vastly different. My first being a small beach school in San Diego and second a huge and privileged art school which I was privileged enough to earn a full scholarship to. It wasn't always easy navigating my way through not only new friends but also starting a very extensive performing arts program.
Do you do any volunteer or community work when you're not on tour?
I absolutely love volunteering and charity work! I have so many friends that have created phenomenal non-profits and I love to support them in any way, whether I lend my services DJ'ing events in support or out on the front lines!
What change would you like to see in our society in the next year?
I would love to see more of a push in consciousness to our environmental state. We need to recognize how fast we are depleting our natural resources and take major action in finding alterior energy sources.
