Tell us about your first concert experience:
Our first concert experience as a crew was checking Kanye West at the Sunset House Of Blues with Dilated Peoples. It was 2 days after the album dropped but the whole house knew all the lyrics to every song. The energy in there was insane and that feeling of seeing Yeezy and Dilated rock the house inspired us to be up there one day.
If you couldn’t be a musician, what would you be doing instead?
We would be working behind the scenes at a record label. We actually used to intern for Interscope records back in the day, learning from the best. We started doing this because we're fans of music first, so any job related to music we're down for.
If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, for sure. He was able to create music that connected with everyone around the world, and he changed the world doing it.
If you became President, what is the first action you would take?
Push for more funding in education and creative programs. Make school more appealing, because one day we're all gonna be depending on the next generation.
What social cause is closest to your heart?
We work closely with an organization called 4C The Power that bring entertainers to teach workshops to students in order to inspire creativity, community, culture and confidence in the students and help raise test scores. Working closely with the next generation keeps us inspired daily.
What does the right to vote mean to you?
It's what makes our great country... great. We're given a chance to be heard, we're given a chance to make change. It’s the most important part of living in a free world.
What bands or artists did you listen to when you were in high school? And which bands or artists influenced your style the most?
In high school we were into everything from Smashing Pumpkins, Kanye West, Mos Def, Daft Punk, Outkast, Tupac, Guns n Roses, The Beastie Boys.. The list goes on forever. All these artists fused together shaped our musical taste and style. We always reference their hits when working in the studio.
What activity or group were you involved with in high school that might surprise people today?
Kev nish: I used to play ice hockey
Prohgress: I was on the tennis team. Sat the bench though haha.
Virman: I dj'd every lunchtime dance and my own prom so I could get in to all the dances for free
Jsplif: I was on the high school volleyball team for 2 years.
What's the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in high school? (could be personal or academic)
Waking up early to make it to first period on time was always a huge obstacle haha. But on the real, staying inspired to go to school was #1. There were always so many distractions and forces pulling us away from class. If there were more inspiring things when we were in school we'd all be rocket scientists and presidents right now! Haha
Do you do any volunteer or community work when you're not on tour?
Yes, we teach workshops to students through 4C the Power (explained in the social cause question) and always try to hit the high schools to help raise money where we can with shows and fund raisers.
What change would you like to see in our society in the next year?
We would love to see huge moves made to clean up the mess in the Gulf from the oil spill.
