“A rock show that gives you a reason to dance,” this is what 7LIONS, the newest band signed to superstar producer RedOne’s label 2101 Records, brings to it’s fans. This Los Angeles based aggregation reveals a potent merger of rock and hiphop like it’s never been done before. The difference between 7LIONS and the pioneers before them is the fusion of the urban hip-hop poetry from their rapper Mika “Prophet” Guillory, the alternative rock influences of their lead singer/guitarist Forrest Fulmer and the electronic/pop/rock production of their keyboardist Morgan Taylor Reid; diverse musical backgrounds that create an explosive, epic sound. A tight knit group, 7LIONS also includes band members Will Carpenter (Lead Guitar/Back-Up Vox), Daniel Hange (Bass) and Tony Tommasi (Drums).
Tell us about your first concert experience:
My first memorable concert was Wu Tang. I remember just the shear bigness it felt with 10 artist on stage and the electricity of the fans in the venue. It was intoxicating.
If you couldn’t be a musician, what would you be doing instead?
A World Traveler and photographer.
If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would prob love to do a song with Biggie. For me it just represents a simpler Golden Era where you could make a statement and stand by it.
If you became President, what is the first action you would take?
Lift the blockade to Cuba
What social cause is closest to your heart?
At Risk Youth and A Clean Planet
What does the right to vote mean to you?
The power to have a voice the world can hear
What bands or artists did you listen to when you were in high school?
Linkin Park, 2Pac,Bob Marley, Rage Against The Machines
And which bands or artists influenced your style the most?
I loved how Rage Against The Machines changed my mind on blending hip hop with rock. That and "Walk This Way" Aerosmith FT. Run DMC was a heavy impact.
What activity or group were you involved with in high school that might surprise people today?
I use to do Pole Vaulting for track and field.
What's the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in high school?
Being a mixed kid and living with my Grandparents who mainly spoke French (Creole) and dressed me like I was at Church even for school was tough to say the least.
Do you do any volunteer or community work when you're not on tour?
I sit on the Board of a local charity for at risk youth called "A Place Called Home" in South Centeral (http://www.apch.org)
What change would you like to see in our society in the next year?
I would love for the political system to become less about partisan bickering and be about lifting our country out of debt and back to a respectable level of economic growth for this generation and the next.
