How to run an Early Vote Campaign
Did you know that 30 states allow you to vote before November 4th? Early voting
allows you to skip the lines at the polls, ensure that you have the chance to vote, and
perhaps best of all... sleep in on election day.
Early voting makes it easy for you to make sure that all of your friends, family, and
classmates get to the polls. You can host “Early Election Day” events with trips to the
polls to make sure that everyone you know beats the crowds. Here are a few tips on
how to do it:
- Go to http://www.rockthevote.com/electioncenter/ and find out if your state has
early voting: find your state under “Early Voting States,” and find your local early
vote polling location. - Organize your friends: use the Rock the Vote Event Tool to create an Early Election Day, and invite
everyone you know. If youʼre a college campus, make sure you reach out to other
student organizations, go dorm-storming (making sure people pledge to vote!
(see “How to Run a Pledge to Vote Campaign"). - Organize transportation to your early polling place: if youʼre on campus, try to get
a school sponsored shuttle. Or organize carpools! - Download your materials:
- Have everyone of voting age at the event pledge to vote by putting their
information on the cards and form. - GO TO YOUR POLLING PLACE AND VOTE EARLY!
- When the event is over, fax your Pledge Form to 202-719-9952 or copy the
information into an Excel spreadsheet and e-mail it to field(at)rockthevote.com
