Rock the Vote to Reveal Post-Super Tuesday Poll on Young Voter Attitudes and Trends

Washington, DC - February 20, 2008

On the heels of the unprecedented turnout of more than three million young adults casting their ballots on Super Tuesday alone, Rock the Vote in conjunction with the bi-partisan polling team of Ed Goeas of the Tarrance Group and Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners conducted the first youth poll post-Super Tuesday; delving deeper into the current attitudes and trends among 18-29 year old voters.

Young people are taking this election by storm, leading a movement of change and doubling, tripling and quadrupling their turnout in early primaries and caucuses across the nation. Survey findings reveal young voters are passionate and more energized than ever to take charge in shaping our country's future. In addition, results will provide insights into the minds of young people in this election including their opinions on the direction of the US economy, top issues of concern, and political party and Presidential candidate preference.

Also, research will be presented from a series of 10 focus groups with adults between the ages of 18 and 29 that were held in October 2007 by Lake Research Partners, The Tarrance Group and Rock the Vote. Nearly 100 young people from diverse backgrounds discussed a range of topics from attitudes towards decision makers and candidates to the war in Iraq.
