Daily Kos and Rock the Vote To Host Netroots Nation Finale Party

Finale for political tech convention is one party you won't want to miss

Washington, DC - July 16, 2010

WHO: Daily Kos & Rock the Vote, with comedian Elon James White and Reprise Records artists Nikki & Rich and American Bang

WHAT: Netroots Nation Finale Party

WHEN: Saturday, July 24 from 9 PM until Midnight

WHERE: House of Blues Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay

Daily Kos and Rock the Vote will close three days of political discourse among the nation's top bloggers at Netroots Nation by co-hosting a finale party at the House of Blues in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 24, featuring performances by Nikki & Rich and American Bang.

The finale party takes place at the country's most respected conference for the blogging community during a time when digital media is changing the face of politics and will play an influential role in November's midterm elections.

"Like Rock the Vote, the netroots community has long strived to make political engagement fun and culturally relevant," said Markos Moulitsas, publisher of Daily Kos. "What better way to recharge from getting people involved in the political process than to party the last night of the conference away?"

The finale party will provide entertainment for the convention's attendees. Complimentary beer and wine will be served from 9 to 11 PM. Comedian Elon James White, creator of "This Week in Blackness," will emcee the night while chart-climbers American Bang and Nikki & Rich will provide live music performances.

"The concert will bring together great musicians, digital activists, and youth leaders who will be celebrating in style as we collaborate and prepare for the midterm elections," says Rock the Vote President Heather Smith. This year Rock the Vote is running the largest midterm election voter registration and get-out-the-vote drive in the organization's 20-year history.

The night's musical guests are heating up this summer's music scene. American Bang's self-titled debut album releases on August 31st and shoots straight at the heart of great American rock'n'roll. Nikki & Rich have also been making a scene after the NY Post titled them as "one of the 10 musicians to watch in 2010." They have performed on Ellen and their music has been featured in shows like Entourage and movies like Killers starring Ashton Kutcher.

Both bands have been Rock the Vote ‘featured artists' and share a similar dedication towards civic engagement.

Singer Nikki of Nikki & Rich says, "As a woman I feel strongly about the obligation in my heart to exercise my right to vote. Many before me have fought for this right and I value the opportunity to have a voice and make a difference."

Attendees must show Netroots Nation credentials upon entry to the Finale Party. Doors open at 9 PM and space is limited so guests are advised to arrive early.
